The strange case of MH370 passenger Philip Wood and the featureless black photo he allegedly took from a darkened cell on Diego Garcia continues to develop. The photo, besides having no discernible detail, had other problems, such as: 1) it was supposedly posted via voice commands to a site (4chan.org) where it would be difficult to do so; 2) it contained embedded text indicating that it was probably processed by PhotoShop; 3) it was supposedly sent from an iPhone 5 that had been kept hidden by a prisoner for ten days; and 4) it had dimensions much smaller than normal for an iPhone 5 photo, either from the front or back camera.
Now Philip Wood’s partner Sarah Bajc, who has stated a belief that the aircraft is intact and the passengers are alive, says that a source has told her the plane had a military escort:
Some are skeptical not just of the photo, but even of Ms. Bajc’s genuineness, thinking that she is part of some kind of disinfo campaign:
I have trouble understanding what the purpose of such a disinfo campaign would be. It would only make sense if some interests wanted the U.S. to be under suspicion for the fate of the flight, which is possible.
But the is another simpler explanation which needs also to be considered: that Ms. Bajc, believing that the plane was diverted to Diego Garcia, wants to keep the Diego Garcia possibility alive in the public mind. I believe it is even possible that, for the same reason, Ms. Bajc herself created the supposed prison selfie and posted it to 4chan.org, in an act of understandable desperation. Indeed, such efforts may be having fruit, as families of other MH370 passengers are starting to demand that Diego Garcia be searched. Though it may be rather too late for that.
