Blowing Your Mind — as Promised | Scott Adams’ Blog

About a year ago I told you that Donald Trump would change far more than politics. I predicted that he would change your understanding of the human condition and your role in reality.

Back then, I couldn’t explain what I meant. You didn’t have the mental framework to hold this new idea – unless you were a trained hypnotist or a cognitive scientist. The ideas were too radical.

Until now.

I saw this situation developing last year. The Master Persuader opened a crack in the universe so we mortals could – for the first time – understand the nature of reality. At the end of this short blog post I will link to an article that will blow your mind.

But first I will describe the mental framework you need to accept this new vision of reality. The framework goes like this:

1. Smart, well-informed people disagree on nearly all major issues. So being smart and well-informed doesn’t help you grasp reality as much as you would hope. If it did, all of the smart, well-informed people would agree. They don’t.

2. Trump says lots of things that don’t pass the fact-checkers’ tests. His supporters don’t care because facts don’t influence decisions. Humans decide first, then rationalize their irrational choices with cherry-picked data. You see this all the time with the people who disagree with your brilliance. Just remember that they see the same irrationality in you that you see in them.

Alexander Graham Bell Made a Wireless Phone That Ran on Sunshine | Motherboard

Written by Ben Richmond

On June 3, 1880, just four years after he patented the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell was talking wirelessly, sending his words over 213 meters on a mirror and a sunbeam on top of the Franklin School in Washington, DC. Bell called it his most important invention and named it the “photophone.”

Just like a telephone, you’d speak into a transmitter and it would be heard via a receiver, except, rather than sending electrical signals over wire, the transmitter focused light onto a parabolic mirror. When you spoke, the mirror vibrated in response, which modulated the sunbeam and varied the intensity of the light reaching the receiver, where, by shining on light-sensitive selenium, the light became speech again.

Physicists spooked by faster-than-light information transfer : Nature News

Quantum weirdness even stranger than previously thought.

Geoff Brumfiel

Two photons can be connected in a way that seems to defy the very nature of space and time, yet still obeys the laws of quantum mechanics.

Physicists at the University of Geneva achieved the weird result by creating a pair of ‘entangled’ photons, separating them, then sending them down a fibre optic cable to the Swiss villages of Satigny and Jussy, some 18 kilometres apart.

The researchers found that when each photon reached its destination, it could instantly sense its twin’s behaviour without any direct communication. The finding does not violate the laws of quantum mechanics, the theory that physicists use to describe the behaviour of very small systems. Rather, it shows just how quantum mechanics can defy everyday expectation, says Nicolas Gisin, the researcher who led the study. “Our experiment just puts the finger where it hurts,” he says. The study is published in Nature1.

From Russia, unbreakable computer code – Fortune Tech

By Clay Dillow

FORTUNE — The news out of Moscow of late has been dominated by Edward Snowden, the American leaker of secret state documents who is currently seeking temporary asylum in Russia. Meanwhile, across town and to much less fanfare, Dr. Nicolas Gisin found himself explaining last week the solution to the very problems of data security and privacy intrusion Snowden brought to light in exposing the vast reach of the National Security Agency’s data collection tools: data encryption that is unbreakable now and will remain unbreakable in the future.

Gisin is a Swiss quantum physicist and a pioneer in the exploration and manipulation of the very small — that is, the various “quanta” of the micro world, things like individual atoms and photons. (Photons are the elementary particle of light.) In 2001, Gisin co-founded a company called ID Quantique with the aim of converting the strange phenomena found in the quantum world into commercial applications. At that time, the quantum world was still very much a theoretical place, one more suited for the laboratory than employed for practical application. But over the last decade quantum technologies have matured such that they can offer many practical benefits, including the kind of data encryption that ID Quantique now provides to various banks and governments — data security that is virtually impossible to breach.

Jupiter Sized Object Discovered Next to the Sun – |

by Avalon

June 21, 2013

A spherical object the size of Jupiter was detected and imaged by the viewer on June 17 through 18. The image comes into view and is clearly spherical and looks the size of Jupiter which is approximately 86,881 miles in diameter.

For many years there’s been speculation about the existence of a dark star that is the sister sun to our own sun – making our solar system a binary–star system. According to Wikipedia; It is estimated that approximately 1/3 of the star systems in the Milky Way are binary or multiple, with the remaining 2/3 consisting of single stars.[61] has an online viewer that can be programmed to view virtually any time you select. Images and movies can be created via the online interface. The Helioviewer Project has an online Tutorial Blog that is very useful to get started.
